I Built a Cursor Highlighter App for Mac and Here’s What It Does
If you’ve ever done a presentation, recorded a tutorial, or shared your screen on Zoom and thought “where the heck is my cursor?”, I built something for that.
It’s called Mouzz and it’s a native macOS app that enhances your cursor with visual effects. It lives in your menu bar, works across every app on your Mac, and costs a one-time $4.99. No subscriptions, no in-app purchases.
Here’s what it does.
Spotlight Effect
This one dims the entire screen except the area around your cursor. You get a focused light that follows your mouse. You can adjust the radius, the opacity, and the color. Super useful when you want to draw attention to a specific part of the screen during a presentation or a demo.
Ring Cursor
Adds a smooth animated ring around your pointer. You can customize the size, color, and animation speed. It’s always visible, so you never lose track of your cursor on a big monitor.
Cursor Trail
A colorful particle trail that follows your mouse movement. Looks great in screen recordings and adds a bit of personality to your workflow.
Click Feedback
Every time you click, a visual ripple appears on screen. This is huge for tutorials and recordings because your viewers can actually see when and where you click.
Click Sounds
Adds audio feedback to your clicks. Think satisfying mechanical keyboard vibes. Gets picked up by screen recording software, so your audience hears every click too.
Cursor Zoom
Magnifies the area around your cursor. There are 3 modes: Picture-in-Picture, Fullscreen, and Split Screen. The zoom range goes from 1.2x all the way up to 20x. Great for accessibility, detail work, or showing small UI elements during a demo.
Hotkey Controls
Every feature has a customizable keyboard shortcut. Toggle effects on and off without switching apps. Essential for a smooth presentation flow.
Multi-Screen Support
All effects work seamlessly across multiple displays. The overlay follows your cursor from screen to screen automatically.
Who is this for?
Honestly, anyone who spends time presenting, recording, or teaching on a Mac. YouTubers, educators, developers doing code walkthroughs, designers reviewing work, or just people with large monitors who keep losing their cursor.
Mouzz is built with SwiftUI, runs natively on macOS 11.0+, collects zero data, makes zero network requests, and is available on the Mac App Store.

There’s also a free Chrome extension if you want cursor effects in the browser.
